5210R/5211R/5212R: Installation media updated
Updated ISO images and Incus images for BlueOnyx 5210R, 5211R and 5212R have been published.
We just published new BlueOnyx 5210R, 5211R and 5212R installation media that includes all updates as of today.
- New ISO images
- New Incus/LXC Container images
These can be downloaded from the usual locations mentioned here.
The new ISO images contain all DNF updates as of today and have been rolled up in a new fashion to make them more resilient and robust if "burned" to USB sticks. Our ISOs have some important characteristics:
- They are hybrid ISOs (BIOS + UEFI)
- They use Anaconda’s modern layout
- The installer expects a proper block-level write
- Some USB tools require special mode selection
- Always choose "DD mode", "Raw mode", or "Image mode" when offered to deploy them to USB sticks for installation on your servers.
If you use USB-Sticks as installation media:
Windows: Use Rufus
Rufus is a popular Windows USB creation tool, but requires correct settings for BlueOnyx.
Required Settings:
- Select your USB device
- Select the BlueOnyx ISO
- Boot selection: ISO Image
- Partition scheme: GPT (recommended for UEFI systems), MBR (legacy BIOS), Target system: UEFI (recommended)
When prompted:
❗ Select "Write in DD Image mode"
⚠️ Do NOT use ISO mode. ISO mode will produce a USB that boots but fails during installation.
Cross-Platform: balenaEtcher
balenaEtcher works on Linux, Windows, and macOS and is beginner-friendly.
How to Use:
- Select the BlueOnyx ISO
- Select the USB device
- Click Flash
✔ Etcher automatically uses raw image mode
✔ Fully compatible with BlueOnyx ISOs
✔ No manual options needed
